I do NOT mean to be negative, I have friends who are pastors. I also know that many of the pastors are real men of God, who love the Lord and His people. One of the problems over the years is that PASTOR is the only full time-paid position in the Church. If God has called a man as a teacher or some other calling the ONLY JOB available is PASTOR.
However, NONE of that justifies NOT FOLLOWING the New Testament 'PATTERN'! There is NO PASTORS in the New Testament. That position is a figment of MAN's imagination!
The New Testament pattern for leadership is NOT what we see in the Church today! What is seen today is a mere copy of Plato's and Aristotle's structure of order called "hierarchy"! It was copied by the Catholic Church from the Romans, who got it from the Greeks, and then it was copied by the Protestant Churches! The Protestant Churches merely changed the names: FROM Priest to Pastor, Bishop to Superintendent, etc.
Also most denominations have a Pope, they just don’t call him Pope. They call him by a different name like: Head Superintendent, President of the denomination, etc. But whatever name they use it is the position of taking of a head of their denomination, just like the Pope.
Names do NOT make for correct changes. Many left the Catholic Church and thought they were coming out of Babylon. However, THESE things requires ‘spiritual’ under standing. Just coming out something and/or changing the names does not change the root!
I Corinthians 2:14, “But a natural man does not accept (or understand) the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised (or revealed by the Spirit).” NASB
We can ONLY understand when the Holy
Spirit decides to reveal these truths to us. And He will IF we are willing to repent and change.
People have been deceived into thinking that, "IF we go to Bible College and/or Seminary then we can understand." "Other men have learned this way, we can too."
IF the teachers and professors have
learned from the Holy Spirit then you can gain some knowledge but not
understanding. However, the majority of the teachers and professors don’t
even believe in the inspiration of the scriptures or the miracles. They are
working hard to de-mythologize the Bible. That means they are trying to teach
that Jesus did NOT heal the sick, did NOT cast out demons, was NOT born of a
virgin, was NOT the Son of God, and was in fact, NOT God! They also teach that miracles, healing, deliverance, God speaking to His people IS NOT FOR TODAY.
I repeat that is the majority of the teachers and professors in many of the Bible Colleges and Seminaries! So WHAT are they going to teach you?
Today we have people coming out of
Protestant Churches, starting House Churches and say they are coming out of
Babylon and/or starting a New Testament Church!
The problem is spiritual, not just structure: It is men ruling over other men. The very thing Jesus told His disciples that they were NOT TO DO, men HAVE been doing this for two thousand years, in the Church!
Matthew 23:10-12, “Neither be ye called masters (leader NASB, teacher NIV & NKJV) for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased (humbled, put-down); and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted (lifted up, promoted).” KJV
I Corinthians 11:3, “But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.” NASB
NOT some men but CHRIST IS THE HEAD of EVERY MAN. Any man, pastor, leader, Prophet, even an Apostle has no right and NO AUTHORITY to take headship over another man, period. IF they say otherwise they are liars! AND the only person who has authority over a married woman is her husband, not a pastor or priest or any one else!
Here is one example that
it started before the end of the First Century. 3 John 1:9, “I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes,
who loves to be first (“who loves to have the preeminence” KJV, “who loves to put
himself first” RSV) among them, does not accept what we say (“does not
receive us” NKJV). NASB Imagine, does NOT ACCEPT the Apostle John.
Men who love to have the preeminence over everyone else in the Church are an abomination to God! See also verse 10 of 3 John, “For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church.” NASB. Does that sound familiar? Unjustly accusing others, using wicked words, does not receive other brothers In-the-Lord, forbids anyone else to make any decisions, especially receiving others, and will go so far as to THROW THEM OUT OF THE CHURCH. Arrogant, authoritarian, calling themselves 'The Head'.
Jesus actually HATES this kind of attitude, of those who are supposed to be His shepherds. Jesus HATES those who RULE OVER, as the gentiles rule-over others, with a heavy hand, without love. His shepherds are to lead as He lead and to lay down their lives for God’s people, God’s sheep. Many of these self-appointed leaders call these people, “My sheep.” “My flock”, “My Church”, etc.
In Revelations Jesus said in Rev. 2:6, “…you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.” Nico-laitan means as follows: nico = to rule over, and laitan = laity or the people.
